University Honors Program (UHP) is a university-wide undergraduate program intended to reward SIU's best students for their high academic achievements. We value community, diversity, leadership, service, lifelong learning, global awareness and research, and are committed to providing both experience and opportunity to foster those values.
All students engaged in any type of scholarly activities, research, or creative activities are invited to present a poster sharing their work with the SIU community. After the forum the Chancellor and Vice Chancellor for Research will speak and recognize the top presenters.
This competitive program, open to all disciplines, offers 20 grant awards each year to undergraduate students working on an independent research and/or creative activity project with a faculty mentor. We also publicize and promote other undergraduate research and/or creative activity opportunities via this web site and by producing an informational brochure.
Students Promoting Educational Advancement and Research (SPEAR)
The goal of SPEAR is creating a strong support system to guide students as they transition from undergraduate to graduate studies. The organization stimulates interest in undergraduate research and graduate studies as it provides personal and professional development activities. It also serves as an educational opportunities forum and promotes higher education for all majors and disciplines.
